Selectors make major reshuffle in Ranji squad

GUWAHATI,  Nov 13: Assam Cricket Association once again made major reshuffle in their Ranji Trophy squad which will face Hyderabad at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara from  November 17. Altogether five cricketers were dropped from the squad that faced Uttar Pradesh in the last game and all are replaced by junior cricketers.

However surprise elimition from the team is pacer Abu Nechim Ahmed.  Assam is already out from the next round berth in this competition and selectors possibly decided to make a few experiments with the young cricketers. But the big question-what is the logic behind in dropping the senior pacer Abu who is performing well in this season?

It may be mentioned here that Abu played four matches in this season and collected 12 wickets at 34.08. The second highest wicket taker of Assam is Dhiraj Goswami with 5 wickets who was also dropped from the team along with Abu. The other players who didn’t get a place in the team for the next match were Kul Saikia, Sarupam Purkayastha and Rahul Hazarika. They will be replaced by Abhisekh Thakuri, Rajat Khan, Ritupan Phatowali, Mrinmoy Dutta and Rahul Singh.

The squad: Gokul Sharma (captain), Rishav Das, Abhisekh Thakuri, Sib Sankar Roy, Amit Sinha,  Sunzow Brahma, Wasiqur Rahman, Pallav Das, Rajjakuddin Ahmed, Rahul Singh, Mrinmoy Dutta, Pritam Debth, Pritam Das, Ritupan Phatowali and Rajat khan.
