Selfie obsession is not just rcissism

London, February 15: Is one’s love for selfies just an exercise in self-obsession? Perhaps not. New research suggests that clicking selfie’s could actually be an empowering activity, helping young people to develop their identity, and boost confidence and self-esteem. The report, compiled by a leading cosmetic surgery group called Transform Cosmetic Surgery in Britain, contains results from a recent study of 2,000 British respondents in the age group of 18-24. The study revealed that eyes are the stand-out feature for both men and women, and the smile is classified as the most attractive asset. “It is interesting, but not surprising, to see that looks and image are very important to young people. “We’re not sure whether this has always been the case or if it has, in recent times, been heavily influenced by the onset and proliferation of social media profiles and platforms,” said Steven Taylor from Transform Cosmetic Surgery.  (IANS)
