Semir focuses on use of Assamese language

DHUBRI, May 15: Dhubri district Additiol Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Debojit Khanikar said that the indigenous languages of the State including Assamese have faced existential crisis due to the aggression of English.

Addressing a semir here on the future of Assamese language organized by the Directorate of Government Language Implementation, ADC Khanikar said, “If we don’t use the Assamese language in Government works by properly implementing the Government Language Act, the Assamese language will be wiped out one day.”

He said that no one can be compelled  to speak Assamese language if people don’t speak the language spontaneously.

Speaking on the occasion , Pervez Shah , Director of Government Language Implementation explained the pros and cons of implementing Assamese language in the Government work in the districts of Brahmaputra valley.
