Semir on contribution of Ahoms in cultural field held

SIVASAGAR, Sept 12: A semir on ‘Contribution of Ahom in the cultural field of Assam’, organized by the Sivasagar Zila Brahman Samaj was held on Friday evening.

The semir, presided over by Gobinda Chandra Borthakur, was addressed by Xatradhikar of Dakhinpat Xatra, Nonigopal Mahanta.

While speaking on the contribution in the field culture by the Ahom Swargadeos during their 600 years rule, Mahanta said the advent of Sukafa into Assam from Yun province in the 13th century was a great event in history.

Citing an illustration while talking on the theme, Mahanta spoke in detail about Chulung Sukafa who sowed the seeds of greater Assamese society by uniting Borahi, Chutia, Moran, Kochari, and other communities. The semir was also attended by Shiv Goswami, Mon Rajguru, Rajendra th Borthakur and Putali Goswami as distinguished guests.
