Semir on fiscal federalism in India at OKD institute

Guwahati, March 27: Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change and Development is organizing a two-day semir on “Towards a New Regime of Fiscal Federalism in India: Implications of the Fourteenth Fince Commission” at the Conference Hall of the Institute on Tuesday and Wednesday. Prof Piki Chakraborty, Economic Adviser of 14th Fince Commission would deliver the key note address at 9.45 a.m. on Tuesday. As part of the semir, a panel discussion on “State Finces post 14th FFC: Issues and Implications” is also being organized wherein key government officials will deliberate upon the realities of state finces. A host of lumiries pertaining to academics and policy planning would be part of the semir that includes, Manish Gupta of tiol Institute of Public Fince and Policy, Surajit Mazumdar of Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, JNU, Govind Bhattacharjee, Director General (Direct Taxes), Office of the CAG, India. The valedictory lecture would be delivered by Professor Atul Sarmah, Member of the 13th Fince Commission and Chairperson, OKDISCD, a press release said.
