Semir on Gandhian philosophy and women empowerment held

GAURISAGAR, MARCH 27:  Jhanji Hem th Sarmah College organized a two-day long tiol semir  sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC)  in association with the Gandhi Study Centre and women cell of the college recently.

In this connection, an iugural function was held on the first day under the chairmanship of Dr. Manjit Gogoi, Principal of the college. Dr. Adil Ul Yasin, former Professor, Dibrugarh University (DU) graced the semir as an appointed speaker. In his speech he stressed oGandhian philosophy  and ideals.

The semir was iugurated by Prodip Hazarika, MLA of Amguri. In the semir Dr. Barun Dey, Professor, DU, and Dr. Krish Jyoti Hondique, Professor, Gargaon College took part  in the iugural session as distinguished guests. Earlier, Dr. Anil Kumar Gogoi, former Principal of the college, unveiled a magazine written on Gandhian philosophy.

In the two-day long semir, besides the main theme, the sub-themes like  impact of Gandhian philosophy in the economic empowerment of women,  empowerment of women under the leadership of Gandhi, Gandhi and women rights, Gandhi as an environmentalist, Gandhi  and religion  were broadly discussed.
