Lakhimpur, Dec 3: North Lakhimpur College (autonomous) will hold a tiol semir in collaboration with ta Sainik Ali Haidar tya Mancha on February 10 and February 11 in the college premises in Lakhimpur district. The University Grants Commission (UGC) will sponsor the whole semir. The semir will be on the topic ‘Impact of Mythology on Modern Assamese Literature’. It will be organized by the Assamese department of North Lakhimpur College.
Dr Bimanchandra Chetia, Principal of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous), Lily Cheleng, Head of the Assamese department of NLC, Dr. Arabinda Rajkhowa, in-charge of the semir programme, Gulap Hazarika, president of ta Sainik Ali Haider tya Mancha and Amanul Hussain, general secretary of ta Sainik tya Mancha, are the people involved in the magement of the semir programme.
On February 10, the semir will be iugurated and then the first discussion will be held. On the second day of the semir, the second session of discussion will take place.
“The aim of the semir is to re-establish the drama and literature which have become extinct in the ages of time in the Assamese history on the basis of research and discussion. Later, a book will be published on the basis of the semir which will enrich Assamese literature. The subjects of discussion in the semir are poetry, drama, short stories and articles,” said Dr Arabinda Rajkhowa.
“This semir will be of great benefit to all the students and open new areas to develop and enrich the Assamese literature. Most importantly, the future generation will be benefited from such research which are to be held in the semir. We are grateful to ta Sainik Ali Haidar tya Mancha which has supported us in organizing the semir,” he added.
