Semir on restoration of communication during disaster

Guwahati, Feb 23: A Semir on “Restoration of Communication in a Disaster Scerio-Role of first Communication Responder” was held today at the conference Hall of Assam Police Radio Organisation(HQ) Assam, Ulubari here. The iugural session of the semir was attended by DGP Mukesh Sahay as Chief Guest and Kuladhar Saikia, Special DGP (L&0),  as a distinguished guest. S. Ram Mohan, Director, tiol Institute of Amateur Radio, Hyderabad specially invited guest delivered speech on the topic. In the meeting Bijit Choudhuri, Scientist, Geoscience Div, CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat explained about seismic hazard assessment. R Chandrathan, Addl. Director General of Police (Communication) welcomed all the distinguished guests. The first technical session of the semir was presided by Kamalesh Deka, Ex. Director of APRO & Retd Director of Police, Telecom, MHA, GOI and the second technical session was presided by Prabir Mohan Dastidar, Ex Director of Assam Police Radio Organisation. Besides, the representatives of Assam Police, Army, BSF, Central Paramilitary Force, the meeting was attended by several representatives from tiol and State Disaster Magement Agency, Specialists of NDRF etc. Apart from this Prof. Ankura Dutta, HOD, Department of Communication and Jourlism, Gauhati University and Swapnil Bharali, Editor, G- Plus have presented a paper on “Role of Media in Disaster Magement both in First Response and mitigation”. During the first technical session, C Ojah, SP(Commn), S Kumar, Asstt Comdt, 1st NDRF Bn, U.K. Singh, Asstt. Comdt, CRPF and P. Saikia, SP(Commn) have presented their views and ideas on the topic of Restoration of Communication in a Disaster Scerio.
