Semir on status of NE women held

PANIGAON, May 3 :  A two-day tiol level semir on the topic ‘Status of women in Northeast India: Problems and concerns’ was organized at  Lakhimpur Telahi Kamlabaria College at Azad here in Lakhimpur on April 29 and April 30.

The semir  was iugurated by Dr. Banti Haobaruah, head of the department of Economics of  Lakhimpur Girls’ College on April 29.  Former president of ACTA Dr. Khireshaswr Bora delivered the keynote address of the semir.  The technical session on the first day of semir was moderated by  educationist Rekha Phukan while advocate Nikunja Phukan attended as resource person.

The technical session in the second day of the semir was moderated by Haren Bora, former Vice Principal of Lakhimpur Girls College where Dr Amiya Rakbongshi, former vice principal of North Lakhimpur college attended as resource person. The valedictory function held in the evening was presided over by principal Bubul Kumar Saikia.   A total of 130 research scholars from different universities participated in the semir. Dr Swap Dutta , head of the Home Science of the college offered the vote of thanks.
