Semir on VAT awareness held

Golaghat , July 27: Under the banner of United Chambers of Commerce Golaghat  in association with Assistant Commissioner of Taxes, a semir was organized on Tuesday in the  conference hall of United Chambers of Commerce  regarding VAT and other issues.

A meeting was organized which was presided by the president of the UCC, Apurba Ballabh Goswami. In the ceremony , Superintendent of Taxes, Rajeev Sharma, Inspector of Taxes vajit Roy and Abdul Baatin Sarakar, Amzad Ali , Jugal Kishore Prithani and Dip Kalita were felicitated. General secretary of the UCC, Dip Kalita and chartered accountant Shravan Agarwal jointly coordited the programme.

From the business community’s side chartered accountant Shravan Agarwal raised the issue related to strict behaviour of Sales Tax department recently, transport permit, slow website, untimely registration and other issues. He urged the officials to consider businessmen as partners and not thieves.

Sales Tax Superintendent Rajeev Sharma asked businessmen to consider the officials as friends and not as enemies. Dip Kalita asked the department why they were not taxing jaggery and betel nut, though they are sold in large quantity from Golaghat . He too suggested the department to give the mes of the honest businessmen who pay their taxes on time so that the Chambers of Commerce can take initiative to reward them and set example for others. Senior tax official Rajeev Sharma heard all the problems and assured all possible help to the business community.
