Senior advocate passes away

TEZPUR, Jan 2: Senior advocate of Tezpur Court, a resident of Kalibari area e and founder of Tezpur Law College, Heramba Prasad Sharma passed away on Monday morning at GNRC, Guwahati. He was 88.  A talented lawyer followed by everyone from both the civil society and law field, Heramba Prasad Sharma was suffering from prolonged illness and following worsening of his condition, he was admitted to GNRC on December 18. However, he died at the hospital this morning.  Sharma, a path finder of frontline youth organization Youth Emergency Organization during the 1962 Chinese Aggression, was also associated with various government and non-government organizations. He was the founder president of the Tezpur Law College, former president of the governing body of Darrang College, founder secretary of Tezpur College, former president of Ban Theater and Asomia Bhasa Unti Sadhini Sabha, besides many other known and unknown social platforms here.  Many organizations including, Tezpur Bar Association, Ban Theatre, Tezpur Law College, Darrang College and Tezpur College, and local MLA Brindaban Goswami mourned his demise and paid rich tribute to him. A funeral procession was taken out throughout the town.
