Senior CPI(M) leader in Tripura expelled for moral turpitude

Agartala, Dec 3 : Senior CPI(M) leader and elected member of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council from Killa-Bagma constituency Joy Kishor Jamata has been expelled from the party for moral turpitude. He was the second senior leader expelled from the party in last two years for similar allegation after the party MLA from Amarpur constituency Manoranjan Acharjee. Acharjee was expelled from the party in 2014 following allegation of molesting a minor girl inside the Amarpur party office. Joy Kishor Jamatia who was a member of the party’s Udaipur divisiol committee. Earlier the divisiol committee recommended his expulsion.

Madhab Saha, secretary of the party’s Gumati district committee told the reporters that Joy Kishor Jamatia who is also a member of the state committee of the Tribal Youth Federation, the trial youth wing of the CPI(M), has been expelled as the allegations came against him were detrimental for the party’s image. There was allegation of extra marital relationship against the accused for a quite long time but it came to fore on Thursday evening when his wife and other local people raided a house in his own village Warengbari under Killa police station and found him in compromising position with a lady. It is learnt that the villagers kept him confined for over two hours but at a point of time he maged to escape. According to sources the CPI(M) divisiol committee leaders contacted him over phone and told him to submit resigtion from the membership of the TTAADC but he refused. Meanwhile the Trimool Congress workers organised demonstration in Bagma market and Udaipur demanding his immediate arrest.
