AGARTALA, Sep 2: Close to the heel of Pan Ahmed incident, another senior government official in Tripura has been accused of forcibly rapping his tent, a college student, at Badharghat on the outskirts of Agartala.

The accused Mril Kanti Majumder, an engineer in the Public Works Department and posted at Kunjaban is reportedly absconding immediately after the incident.

Paramita Saha, Sub Inspector of West Agartala Women police station who is investigating the case said they have raided several places but could not find him. However, she is hopeful that they will be able to arrest him within a day or two.

According to the allegation, 56-year-old Majumder entered into the girl's room last evening and embraced her forcibly. When the girl started shouting, the other inmates of the house and people from the adjoining locality rushed to the spot. On sensing danger, Majumder left the house immediately.

The incident sparked off a tension in the area as large number of people gathered in front of Majumder's house and demanded his immediate arrest.

It may be recalled that last month another senior government official Pan Ahmed was accused in a similar case when he raped a mother of two children, when she came in to his house receiving information that he has a flat to give on rent.

Ahmed, the former Sub-divisiol Magistrate of Somura also absconded but later surrendered to court. He is now in judicial custody for last three weeks.
