Senior Madrassa teacher arrested for 'abducting' student

MANGALDAI, September 29: The Kharupetia Police in Darrang district on Thursday arrested a senior teacher of a Madrassa along with another youth on the charge of their involvement in the abduction of a female student.

The arrested teacher is Abul Hussain of Kunwaripukhuri Senior Madrassa under Kharupetia Police Station. The other arrested youth is Rafiqul Islam of the same locality. The female student was reportedly abducted on September 23 while she was on her way to the school. The police registered a case ( No. 448/16 under section 366 of IPC) on the basis of the FIR filed by the elder brother of the abducted girl.

Officer in Charge of Kharupetia Police station, Sub Inspector Chandan Goswami taking a clue from the call detail records and other inputs, conducted a raid in village Puthiakhat under Kalaigaon Police station in Udalguri district and arrested both the arrested accused. Significantly, the police recovered the motor cycle (AS 13 F 4317) used in the abduction from the possession of both the arrested persons. Though the abducted girl is yet to be recovered, the police are hopeful to trace out the girl. Both the arrested persons were produced before the Judicial Court in Mangaldai and were remanded to judicial custody in Mangaldai district Jail.
