Senior police officer's demise condoled

MANGALDAI, Nov 13: Md. Hussain, a police officer breathed his last at a private hospital in Guwahati at about 1.30 am on Monday due to prolonged illness. He was about 57. Md. Hussain had joined the 37th batch of Assam Police as a Sub-Inspector in 1984 and rendered his sincere service in different police stations of the State. He also performed his assigned duty as the Officer in-charge of police stations at Bharalumukh in Guwahati, Teok, Titabor and Jorhat and as the Inspector Officer in-Charge at Mangaldai Police Station. In Mangaldai he proved his ability as a true police officer while handling critical situation arising out of group clashes and anti-insurgency operation and was able to win the hearts of the law-abiding citizens.
During his tenure at Mangaldai Police Station, he got promoted and posted as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at Headquarters. He also served in Jorhat district as the DSP (HQ) with good reputation and was later transferred to the Assam Police Commando Battalion at Mandakata in North Guwahati where he served till his last. This soft-spoken humble cop used to spent time from his busy schedule to read books and had acquired the ability to recall the important quotations from these books.
Born into the family of Amir Hussain and Suhi Khatun of - Ali of Puranigudam in gaon district as the eldest son among three, Md. Hussain was a brilliant student. His father was serving as a Head Assistant in the SP’s office at gaon. He tied the nuptial knot with Nilopher Hussain of gaon district and later settled at Anupam Path, Hatigaon in Guwahati.
He leaves behind his wife, two sons and a number of admirers, well-wishers and relatives. The last rites were performed as per religious tradition at the graveyard at Hatigaon in presence of a large number of people. Various organizations of Mangaldai, including Mangaldai Media Circle, Youth Club, Chapai Yuba Kalyan Kendra, Mayukh Goswami, president of Crystal Vision, expressed deep shock at the demise of Md. Hussain.
