Senior ultra surrenders

SHILLONG, March 23: As pressure mounts on insurgency groups in Garo hills by police, on Thursday, another senior cadre of GNLA and ASAK surrendered before the police. The surrendered militant has been identified as Raksim Ch Momin alias Arikam (22) surrendered before the police in the presence of Church Leaders and family members. Raksim joined GNLA in 2012 as a member of the 5th batch. IN 2013, he along with another hardcore militant, Reding T Sangma deserted GNLA and jointly founded ASAK. Afterwards, he surrendered in Baghmara in 2014 due to pressure from police operation in the area, Singh said. Subsequently, he was arrested and lodged in Williamgar Jail. However, he escaped from the jail in 2015 along with five others and joined AMEF.
