Senior workers felicitated in World Labour Day

MANGALDAI, May 1:  Along with the rest of the state World Labour Day was observed at Mangaldai with a day long program under the aegis of the All Mangaldai Construction Workers Union. To mark the day an open session was held in the afternoon at Vidyapith High School play ground here which was attended by hundreds of people from the workers community, local leading citizens and people in general. The session, chaired by Saiyadur Rahman of the workers union was also addressed by retired professor of Mangaldai College Rajendra Barua, retired principal of Mangaldai College Bichitra Kr. Medhi, prominent industrialist and Secretary of Mangaldai Chambers of Commerce Mukul Chandra Daka, former official of Indian AIR Force Rajani Kanta th  and senior jourlist Mayukh Goswami who highlighted the significance  of one hundred twenty nine years old Labour Day and offered their best wishes and greetings to all working people of the world. Earlier Secretary of the Nirman Shramik Union, Atul Kalita explained the objectives of the meeting.

The meeting also witness public felicitation to six senior most skilled workers of the locality with gamosa, citation, umbrella, cash etc in recognition of their contribution towards the field of construction.

The daylong celebration which ended with cultural evening also featured hoisting of the organizatiol flag, special ‘lal jhanda’ of the World Labour Day, plantation , smriti tarpan , sports competition and a cultural rally .
