Sensitization of electors to increase voters' turnout in Kamrup

Rangia, March 11: Kamrup district administration, under the leadership of DEO Vinod Seshan, has planned several innovative ideas to increase the voters’ turnout by motivating the electors, particularly the youth and women, throughout the four LACs of Boko, Chaigaon, Palasbari and Hajo in order to ensure greater participation for a stronger democracy. As a part of this plan the following activities have planned for implementation at the field-level for awareness and sensitization of electors in the district.

Banners  for sensitization of electors will be displayed in all prominent places of the four LACs. Street play focusing on enrolment and casting of votes will be held at Boko LAC on March 15 and March 19, Chaygaon LAC on March 16 and March 20, Palasbari LAC on March 17 and March 21 and at Hajo LAC, the street play will be organized on March 18 and March 22.

Voters slip will be distributed to all voters before the date of poll through Block Level Officers concerned in all LACs. Special awareness drive will be organized in local colleges focusing on enrolment and casting of votes. As per schedule, the campaign in colleges will be held at Boko LAC on March 17 and March 21, Chaygaon LAC on March 18 and March 22, Palasbari LAC on March 19 and March 25 and at Hajo LAC on March 20 and March 26.

Besides, sensitization through arranging Gaon Sabha will be done at Boko, Chaygaon, Palasbari and Hajo LACs from March 27 to March 30 respectively. Bulk SMSes will also be sent to electors of all the LACs of Kamrup. Apart from this, initiative has taken for playing of theme song and DEO’s appeal through Public Address System throughout the district of Kamrup.
