Sensitization programme for banks held

GAURISAGAR, Dec 14: tiol Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (BARD) organized a sensitization programme for banks on SHG and JLG concept at Sivasagar Yuva Dal in association with Asom Grameen Vikash Bank (AGVB) branches of Sivasagar and Charaideo districts on Wednesday. The dignitaries who attended the function were Archa Singh, Deputy General Mager (DGM), BARD, Regiol office, Guwahati, Lakheswar Mahanta, District Development Mager (DDM), BARD, Sivasagar, and other senior magers of AGVB, Dibrugarh Regiol Office.

Addressing the gathering, Archa Singh expressed satisfaction at loans being provided to SHGs and JLGs by the respective AGVB branches in both Sivasagar and Charaideo districts. She even advocated that before sanctioning loans to SHGs and JLGs, banks should  provide necessary training for their sustaible development so that they could set up a processing unit for their survival.

 DDM, BARD, Lakheswar Mahanta  dwelt at length on the objective of SHGs and JLGs  and their impact on economic and  socio-economic  development of Assam. He even highlighted various social security schemes.
