Sensitization programme on JLG concept held

GAURISAGAR, Jan 24: Krishak Nyas, a leading NGO of Sivasagar district, organized a day-long sensitization programme for Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), non-government organizations (NGOs), farmers’ clubs (FCs), Bank Correspondents (BC’s) and others on Joint Liability Group (JLG) concept on Wednesday at the conference hall of Gaurisagar Pakghar restaurant in association tiol Agriculture Bank for Rural Development (BARD).

Addressing the meeting Dr. Phuleswar th, Programme Coorditor, KVK, Sivasagar emphasized the concept of JLG formation, fincial magement and ist key role in self-employment generation. He also opined that the savings of SHG accounts in the State had been playing a key role in bank transaction.

In the meeting, Dhrubajyoti Sarmah, Branch Mager of IDBI, Sivasagar Branch, Suresh Borah, Branch Mager, Assam Grameen Vikash Bank (AGVB), Konwerpur Branch rrated briefly about JLG formation, its credit flow, interest subvention and different short-term and long-term loan facilities. In his speech Lakheswar Mahanta, District Development Mager, BARD, spoke about concept of JLG and urged upon KVKs, NGOs, FCs, BCs to facilitate in opening of JLG.

Rajib Dutta, publicity secretary of Krishak Nyas anchored the whole programme. The other dignitaries attended the programme were Ajit Kumar th, vice-president of Krishak Nyas, chief secretary, Himadri Jyoti Dutta, fince secretary, Puspadhar Neog , Priyanka Dutta and Priyabrata Bordoloi, Subject Matter Specialist, KVK, Sivasagar, a good number of NGOs, farmers’ club and SHG activists.
