Sensitization programme on Juvenile Justice Act held

Goalpara, July 21: The District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), Goalpara on Thursday arranged a sensitization programme on Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act amid its different stakeholders. Arranged at the conference hall of the district court, the programme was chaired by Additiol District and Session Judge D. Sangkakoti and presented by Assistant District and Session Judge, Darek Ullah.

 In his presentation , the Assistant District and Session elaborately discussed the different aspects of the JJ Act and how to work for the best interest of the juveniles. He also focused on the role of the police while dealing with a juvenile.

Meanwhile, Mallika Dutta, Chief Judicial Magistrate , spoke on the importance of the quick disposal of the juvenile cases and encouraged the Special Juvenile Police officers to perform their duty properly. On the other hand, Principal Magistrate Juvenile Justice Board-cum SDJM, Achma Rahman gave details about the High Court guidelines regarding the pending  cases and emphasized cooperation of different stakeholders in this regard. Besides others, Ifshita Borah, Additiol CJM, Sofikul Ahmed, chairperson, CWC, Moonmoon S. Neog, protection officer, JJB and CWC members and SJPU officers also participated in the programme.
