Sensory room for specially abled children

GUWAHATI, Aug 16: On the occasion of 71st of Independence Day, General Mager NF Railway, Chahatey Ram iugurated the “Sensory Room” for differently able children at “SNEHA” complex in the Central Hospital premises at Maligaon on August 15. The SNEHA School, opened in the year 2012 for the differently able students, has been running under the initiative of N F Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation. In the Sensory Room the differently able children will be given special types of assistance by the experts to improve their skills and education using various types of instruments like CP chairs, standing frames, corner sheets, balancing boards, dark room, different types of lights, Full Ball for sitting, different types of Jhul, Zin Balls, mattress, sensory integration etc.

Iugurating the Sensory, General Mager Ram appreciated N F Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation for taking such a welfare scheme for the differently able children. The benefits from the sensory room will be improving of sitting toleration, attention and concentration of skills and cognitive skills to improve motor planning etc., stated a press release.
