Sericulture office building iugurated

HAFLONG, July 17:  N.C Hills Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member ceremonially iugurated the renovated office building of Superintendent of  sericulture, Maibang, Damadi Hawar near Disru Cultural Club, 52 Kms away from Haflong. The ceremonial programme was presided over by G.L. Jidung, a senior citizen of Maibang.

Speaking on the occasion , Debojeet Thaosen said that the office was came into existence in  1974 but it remained as defunct and as a result the beneficiaries are out of reach to avail the benefits provided by the Government through sericulture department time to time.

“On the other hand the beneficiaries have been facing enormous difficulties to keep close co-operation with the department at Haflong,” he said.

He also highlighted his plan to develop the far flung rural areas like Khepre, Jim Valley etc.

He also distributed packages of Rs. 1,500/- in cash and silk rearing appliances in kind to the 70 numbers of beneficiaries and asked them to put more and more interest in Seri and Eri rearing activities to make it a means of becoming self dependent.

S.T.Jem  Hrangkhol, EM, Sericulture and Ranu Langthasa, EM N.C.Hills Autonomous Council were also addressed the ceremony and shared their views about the initiatives taken by CEM Debojeet Thaosen for development throughout the district specially the rural areas.

The iugural programme was also attended by EMs of N.C. Hills Autonomous Council, Nirmol Langthasa, Denish Teron, Lalthlansang Hmar and MAC and Tusar Kanti Dev.
