Service tax not necessary in hotels and restaurants

JORHAT, Feb 23: Service tax is not necessary in hotels and restaurants. If consumers are not satisfied with the service in hotels and restaurants, consumers are not bound to pay serviceĀ  tax. This was stated in a press release by the Assistant Commissioner of Food and Civil Supply department, Jorhat. Notice should be hung in front of the hotels and restaurants for information to customers, the release further added. Another statement said that all retailers of Jorhat district would have to give cash-memo against food items to customers.
