Session court orders probe into irregularities in construction of Athkhelia mghar

GOLAGHAT, April 1: The Golaghat Session court has ordered the Superintended of Police (SP) of Golaghat to enquiry into the case of alleged misappropriation of fund in construction of Athkhelia mghar here on Friday.

An allegation of misappropriation of fund of Rs. 20 lakh in the year 2013 and 2014 was leveled against Golaghat District Congress president Dr Ajit Baruah and maging committee’s president of Athkhelia mghar, Ashim Bora along with eight associates.

Various organizations had staged democratic protest against them for their alleged involvement in the alleged irregularities in the construction of Athkhelia mghar and demanded to arrest the persons.

Several cases (Nos. 1723/14, 2094/14, 2095/14) under section 405/420/409/468 of the IPC were registered against Dr Baruah and Bora along with eight associates at Ghiladhari police station.

The Golaghat First Class Judicial Magistrate B Dutta court today found insufficient of witness against accused persons and issued an order to Golaghat SP to reinvestigate into the case.

On the other hand, Golaghat BJP leader Jayanta Goswami demanded to arrest the District Congress  president Dr Ajit Baruh and others persons, involved in the irregularities in the construction of Athkhelia mghar.
