‘Set up emporium to showcase indigenous products’

Itagar, Jan 11: Rama Krish Mission Hospital secretary Swami Vishweshanda Maharaj has exhorted tiol Youth Project (NYP) to continue skilling people with special abilities (PwSAs) to make them worthy citizens of India. He advocated opening an emporium to showcase and sale the indigenous traditiol dresses and beads, in his iugural address of the two-month training for PwSAs, sponsored by Ali Yavar Jung tiol Institute of Hearing Handicapped (AYJNIHH) under Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, in NYP training centre here.

DDK News head Manikant Thakur said that the NYP identifying and skilling them as a mission deserves appreciation as it is in tune with Government of India’s Stand UP and Start Up programmes, among numerous schemes to benefits the divyangs, provided they learn to avail the benefits honestly as there is no dearth of fund with the Centre. The Aruchal pavilion in Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-2017 was lauded by PM Modi on Monday, he said, adding the stage has been set by the NYP for the trainees to benefit from the innovative initiative, Thakur added. With the conviction of making the PwSAs part of tion building process, the present Central Government formed Skill Development Ministry and Social Justice and Empowerment Department in 2016 and empanelled 27 NGOs, including NYP to take up the works, NYP trustee H P Biswas earlier said.

The NYP has been training PwSAs in 21 states, including in Aruchal since 2008 and so far has trained 3,640 while this year’s target is 783, Biswas said, adding that NYP has collaborated with Gandhi Smriti Darshan (GSD). The traditiol attires and beads once selected would be sold in GSD emporium and those trained could be suppliers to earn a decent livelihood, Biswas said. He regretted that though the state has over 33,000 PwSAs but hardly 20% of them have disability certificate, essential for availing Government benefits. But the state lacks initiative, idequate doctors and infrastructure to meet the goal. He advised the trainees to be committed during training to receive Rs 5,000 in two instalments in their bank account only with 80% attendance.
