'Set up Martyrs' Welfare Fund for willing donors'

Itagar, Oct 7: A group of civil society members have urged the state government to create an account for the willing civilians to contribute to Martyrs’ Welfare Fund.

The countrymen have been leading a peaceful life and marching ahead to help India become a developed  tion by 2020  because of the untiring efforts of the farmers and selfless sacrifices of the jawans to justify former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s famous 1965 slogan: Jai Jawan Jai Kisan, senior jourlist Pradeep Kumar said while handing over the memorandum.  Appreciating the move as humanitarian, OSD to the CS Ravi Dhawan assured to take up the proposal at the appropriate level.

The tiol Defence Fund, with an account (No. 11084239799) with SBI in New Delhi, administered by an executive committee headed by PM, accepts voluntary dotions in cash and kind for the welfare of the members of the Armed Forces (including para military forces) and their dependents, but there is no provision for those willing to dote from accounts, they reasoned.

The willing donors including Kumar, H P Biswas, Yumto Bui, Techi Nipu Tara, Rab Kara Jeel, Tajum lo & Manoj Singh proposed creation of an account for Martyrs’ Welfare Fund with any bank here and develop a format for monthly or regular contribution by any account holders by directly crediting from their accounts according to their wish.
