SHILLONG, July 11: The tiolist People’s Party (NPP) received a major jolt on Tuesday following the resigtion of its vice president and former legislator ECB Bamon.
A close associate of the late Purno A Sangma, Bamon announced his resigtion on grounds that he sees no future for the party under the present leadership.
“After the demise of PA Sangma, I see the leadership of the party loosing directions in its political approach,” stated Bamon, adding, “This is indicative from the confused mindset of those who are the helm of affair.”
Alleging that those at citadel of the party are basking for ‘me and fame’, Bamon said that more and more loyalists of late PA Sangma are likely to desert the NPP.
Notwithstanding his resigtion from the NPP, the former MLA and Minister however continued to hold the former Lok Sabha speaker in high regard.
However, another source said that E.C.B Bamon resigtion is due to the overtures made by the party leadership by offering ticket to another aspirant from Mokaiaw constituency.
