Seven KPLT leaders apprehended in Karbi Anglong

gaon, February 16: In a massive crackdown launched by the joint teams of the Jagiroad based Dogra Regiment and Hamren Police in west Karbi Anglong, seven top hardcore leaders of the dreaded KPLT group were apprehended on Monday from a hideout in the Amring forest area near a hamlet called Tapat, in Hamren subdivision.

The Indian Army’s Red Horn Division had on Sunday apprehended the fince secretary and the auditor along with one cadre of KPLT from village Karbirongsope in Hamren subdivision. One AK Rifle and two pistols along with assorted ammunition were also recovered from these hardcore terrorists.

Based on statement recorded from the apprehended terrorist leaders about presence of hideout inside the Amring forest area near village Tapat, the security forces immediately launched a massive combing operation in the area which resulted in the arrest of the militant group. Initially the militants fired indiscrimitely on the join team and the fight lasted for approximately 45 minutes.  Filly the security forces maged to apprehend all seven terrorists  present in the well-concealed hideout, including dreaded top seven leaders like the dreaded Sunder Dera (commander-in-chief), Danger Ingti (deputy commander-in-chief) and the area commanders of Socheng and Amring areas.

Huge cache of arms and ammunition, including four AK series rifles, two pistols, one grede launcher, 14 magazines of AK rifles, six magazines of pistols,  2,343 rounds of 7.62 caliber ammunition, 14 rounds of 9 mm caliber ammunition, dummy rifles for training of new recruits and various incrimitory documents like extortion notes of KPLT and demand money receipts. The hideout was well-stocked with ration, clothing and medicines to sustain the terrorists for prolonged period.

The series of operations conducted so far have broken the backbone of KPLT with capture of their top leadership and important cadres.  The security forces are continuing with their relentless operations against the ultras to complete wipe out their activity in the Hamren subdivision.
