Several Bills tabled in Meghalaya House

SHILLONG, Dec 8: On the first day of the winter session of the Meghalaya Assembly, various Bills were tabled by the ruling Meghalaya United Alliance (MUA–II) government.

Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma placed a notification issued on July 10, 2017, relating to the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (Salaries and Allowances and other Terms and Conditions of Service of Members) (Amendment) Rules, 2017.

Dr Sangma also placed a notification issued on August 14, 2017, relating to the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Rules, 2017.

Dr Sangma, who is in-charge of Fince Department, tabled the notification issued on 17 October, 2017, relating to the Meghalaya Treasury (Amendment) Rules, 2017. The Chief Minister also introduced the Meghalaya Essential Services Maintence (Amendment) Bill, 2017. He introduced the Meghalaya Atomy Bill, 2017 and also the Meghalaya nursing Council (Amendment) Bill, 2017. The Chief Minister, who is also in-charge Commerce and Industries, placed the reports of the Mineral Industrial Development Corporation – forty annual report of the year 2010-11, forty one annual report of the year 2011-12, forty two annual report of the year 2012-13, forty three annual report of the year 2013-14, the 34th annual report for the year 2014-15 and the annual report for the year 2015-16.

Dr Sangma also placed the Annual Report of the Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited for the year 2014-15 and 2015-16.

He also presented the Supplementary Demands for Grants and Supplementary Appropriation for 2017-18. The Chief Minister also placed the reports of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited for the year 2012-13, Meghalaya Power Transmission Corporation Limited for the year 2012-13, Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited for the year 2012-13 and Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited for the year 2012-13.

Deputy Chief Minister Prof RC Laloo, in-charge of Revenue and Disaster Magement, tabled the notification issued on September 25, 2017, relating to the Meghalaya Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Rules, 2017. He also placed the Annual Report of the Meghalaya State Food Commission 2016-17.

Clement Marak, Minister in-charge of Forest and Environment, placed the annual report of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board for the year 2014-15 and 2015-16. Marak also placed the Separate Audit Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on the Accounts of the Special Purpose Vehicle Society for Development of the Lafarge Umiam Mining Areas, Shillong for the year ended, 2014.

Martin Danggo, Minister in-charge of Parliamentary Affairs, introduced the Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya Members’ Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Bill, 2017.

State Taxation Minister Zenith Sangma introduced the Meghalaya Passenger and Goods Taxation Act (Amendment) Bill, 2017.
