Several chinks exposed in the entry of Bangladeshi jihadis

Special Correspondent

Silchar, Aug 25: After all the sensation over the arrest of four Bangladeshis and their two Indian linkmen on Tuesday, their interrogations and the rounding up of a number of suspects in the sinister network in the making, many chinks and questions have come out. Despite all the high alert on the border with Bangladesh and the claim by BSF of being on maximum vigilance, four Bangladeshis now identified as Suman Ahmed, Dilwara Ahmed, Samir Ahmed and Sahid Ahmed, all from different villages of Sylhet district and in the age group of 25 to 29, could dare to infiltrate through the Umkiang border of Meghalaya.

It is also most puzzling that there is one BSF check post at Umkiang and a police station. Still, they could easily infiltrate. It is also strange that these Bangladeshis could stay in a rented house at Kaliganj for long one month with the help of their linkmen on this side of the border. These linkmen have been identified as Shahjahan Ahmed of Khagrail and Moinul Haque Choudhury of Badarpur. It is now known that one of their companions, Izzat Ali also from Sylhet district, who suddenly suffered a heart attack, was taken all the way in a vehicle from their rented house at Kaliganj to be disposed off in Balia, 20 km away, close to Bangladesh border with Karimganj.

On the basis of public information of the area, all the six were arrested by a team of Nilambazar police station. It were the linkmen who helped them to get in contact with GP president of Binodini to procure fake certificates of their stay in India in order to facilitate them to have Indian passports. As it has already been mentioned both the GP president Anowara Begum and her husband were rounded up by police. Not only that these Bangladeshis also got help to have their voters’ identity cards printed at a computer shop owned by Mostafa Ahmed who was also taken into custody for interrogation. His friend Ashad Uddin believed to be in the network was also rounded up.

The Bangladeshis and their henchmen who have been remanded to police custody for 14 days by the CJM Court of Karimganj are now being subjected to cross examition. IGP (South), Anurag Agarwal, and Diganta Choudhury, SP (Special Branch), also interrogated them at Karimganj police station. According to a source, many startling disclosures have been made by them. All that the police officers have to say is nothing can be revealed at this moment as their interrogations continue. There is definite indication that there was a deeper planning for the recruitment of youths for the dreaded ISIS.

It has also come to light that there exists in the Barak Valley a racket in the business of fake passports, besides of PAN cards, bank accounts as well as certificates from GPs. Not long ago, a Bangladeshi crimil who fled from London after murdering his wife took shelter in the Katigorah area of Cachar and could mage to get certificate from the GP president of the area, fake PAN card and also open bank account. On being alerted by British police, border police of Cachar succeeded in bbing the culprit.
