Several injured in road mishaps

SHILLONG, Dec 14: Several persons were hurt in accidents across the state in the last 24 hours.

A motorist Jerry Marbaniang (30) sustained injuries after he fell off from his motorbike while trying to avoid a collision with a pedestrian.

The motorist was proceeding towards Shillong when the incident happened at Mawryngkneng, East Khasi Hills today at around 12 noon.

The victim Jerry Marbaniang was shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.

In another incident today morning at around 7 am a woman Protoma Basumatary (35) was hit by a vehicle at 14th Mile under Umling Block, Ri Bhoi District and sustained injuries.

The woman was shifted to Byrnihat PHC and subsequently to Mohandra Choudhary Hospital, Guwahati.

Another motorist sustained injuries when the motorbike he was riding on was involved in a collision with a Mahindra pick-up jeep at Mahendraganj under Zikzak Block, South West Garo Hills District.

Rongan Marak (50) was proceeding towards the market at Mahendraganj from Durgapar when the incident took place today morning.

Marak was shifted to Mahendraganj CHC and then to Tura Civil Hospital.

A driver of a Maruti car along with a co-traveler sustained injuries when the vehicle collided into a dumper truck parked on the side of the road.

The incident happened near the old Police station at Mawlai Nongkwar, Shillong on the December 13.

The injured Willstar Khyllai (40) and the driver were shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile occupants and the driver of Mahindra Scorpio (MLO5G – 5327) sustained injuries when their vehicle proceeding towards Shillong overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle at 7th Mile in Upper Shillong on December 13.

The injured - Miracle Blah (27), Anthony Bareh (19), Osmond Pyngrope (18), the driver Mar Lanong (31), Bryan Rani (20) and Mayzel Blah (23) were shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.
