Sewing machines distributed to make women self-sufficient

TANGLA, March 6: In a bid to encourage women folk of OBC, a free aid distribution programme was held at Bordoloi Bhavan premises of Tangla on Monday. The programme was held under the aegis of the BTC government.

Attending the programme as chief guest, Rajiv Brahma, EM BTC, said that to make poor and deprived women self-sufficient and to encourage entrepreneurship, sewing machines had been distributed. Brahma, while speaking on women empowerment, said, “Women have a major role to play in the society in curbing social meces like drug abuse.” He appealed to parents to mould their children into good human beings.

The programme, which was iugurated by Lmwshrao Daimari, EM BTC, was also attended by Jagadish Sarkar, EM BTC, Suresh Tanti, MCLA, and Bhargab Kr. Das, senior jourlist as distinguished guests. Rajiv Brahma ceremonially distributed cotton yarn and sewing machines to a few beneficiaries.
