Sex Racket busted in Lakhimpur's Banderdewa area, 16 arrested

Lakhimpur: In a major operation conducted by Lakhimpur police, a sex racket was busted by the police during a tip-off.

As per a report, a raid was conducted by the police in Lakhimpur’s Banderdewa area along the Assam-Arunachal border.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, Superintendent of Police, Lakhimpur, Sudhakar Singh said, “We have arrested around 16 people in connection for allegedly being involved in carrying out flesh trade in the area since last few days. We have produced them before the court today.”

Reportedly, around eight men and women were arrested in this connection and also recovered a cash amount of Rs 18,000 from their possession.

It may also be mentioned that eight women including the kingpin of the brothel and ten men including two traffickers have been taken into police custody in the presence of executive magistrates.

Lakhimpur, Superintendent of Police, Sudhakar Singh also mentioned that during the raid some persons were also found involved in gambling within the premises and were also arrested. The premises belong to one Rajesh Himmatsingka.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Bihpuria PS vide case no 698/18 under section 370 of the Indian Penal Code, rw section 5/ 5A/ 5C IT(P) Act 1970 rw sec 14/ 15 Assam Games and Betting Act 1955.
