SFI conference at Jorhat from September 11

SILCHAR, Sept  10: The 3 day 15th annual state level conference of Student Federation of India (SFI) will be held from September 11 at Jorhat. Around 300 delegates from different parts of the state are expected to participate in the conference. 4 delegates will join from Cachar, according to Supriyo Choudhury, secretary, SFI unit of the district. The open session of the conference will be addressed by Manik Sarkar, Chief Minister of Tripura and former SFI leader, Dr. V Sivdasan, SFI all India president, as well as Nirankush th, state president, and Ritu Ranjan Das, state secretary. The venue of open session is the Jorhat DSA stadium.

 The 3 day conference will be seized of the organizatiol matter and the burning issues of students, the society and the country as a whole will be on the focus. For a long time, SFI has been maintaining a low profile in Assam and deliberations and discussions will try to chalk out a roadmap to rejuvete and revamp the student wing. At the same time, in the fast changing aspirations of the student community caught between the cross currents of vexed political scerio, the stress will be on how to meet the challenges.

 Apart from the political affairs, the conference is also expected to bring in its purview the problems of common and working class people struggling hard to survive. The leaders on the front will make a critical review and appraisal of the governce by the NDA at the Centre and the Congress at the state to convey the message that it is high time altertive political arrangement has to be made to address the mounting grievances of people. The strengthening of SFI, working among the student community, will quite turally boost up the left movement.

 A semir will be part of the conference to be held at Freedom Fighters Hall of the town. It will be iugurated by Prasanta Rajguru, chief editor of Ajir Asom. The theme of the semir, according to Supriyo Choudhury, will be related to social science and development. On the subject, Dr. Bhupen Sarmah, director, Dr. Amiya Kumar Das Institute of Social Science and Development, Guwahati, will throw light. From Cachar the delegates to attend include Gulzar Alam Zakaria, president, SFI Cachar, Supriyo Choudhury, secretary, Sandip th, president of SFI Assam University unit, and Kishan Tanti, district committee member.
