SFS school celebrates 70th I-Day

GUWAHATI, Aug 16: Along with the rest of the country, educatiol institutions in Guwahati too celebrated India's 70th Independence Day. Teachers, school staff and students of St. Francis De Sales School rengi, Guwahati commemorated the sacrifices of freedom fighters and martyrs who made the country free for future generations through their supreme sacrifices. The celebrations started off at 8 a.m. with the scouts & guides troop welcoming Fr. George, the provincial of the North East India province and also the chief guest of the I-Day function. This was followed by a welcome speech by the school principal addressing the students, teachers, parents guests and staff of SFS school. The chief guest then took the guard of honour as the scouts & guides marched past and hoisted the tiol flag with the tiol anthem echoing in the entire campus. Fr. George was then requested to share his thoughts on this special occasion, followed by a short play and group dance presented by SFS students and then a vote of thanks by one of the teaching staff. The event was organised and conducted with much zeal by the students which reflected the deep love and patriotism they hold and carry for their motherland at this tender age. It would undoubtedly make them proud and responsible citizens of this country.
