Shahil bags 10th place in world chess

GUWAHATI, Nov 9: Assam chess prodigy Shahil Dey continued his excellent performance and secured 10th position in the World Youth Chess Championship which was held in Greece recently. Shahil was seeded 21st in the under-8 category and scored 8 points out of 11 rounds.   He was tied with another 6 players for the 5th position however he got 10th on the basis of his tie break score in the fil ranking. With this performance the Guwahati boy also increased his Fide rating by 18 points. Meanwhile another Assam player Manthan Kashyap Dutta who participated in the under 10 category scored 5.5 points out of 11 rounds and increased his Fide rating by a huge 66 points.
