Shahil finishes second but reaches zenith

GUWAHATI, Aug 10: Assam chess prodigy Shahil Dey yet again proved his talent in the Intertiol front  by winning the silver medal in the Asian Youth Under-8 Chess Championship 2015 that concluded in Suwon, Korea late Monday evening. Seeded 5th in the starting rank and leading the tourment till the halfway, Shahil created history by becoming the first player from Assam to win an intertiol medal in chess. Shahil scored 6.5 points out of 9 rounds.

Shahil had also won the gold medal in the recently concluded Commonwealth Chess Championship 2015 at Delhi. He is also the current tiol Under 7 Champion.

Shahil will next represent India at the World Under 8 Chess Championship 2015 at Greece from 24th October to 7th November 2015.

All Assam Chess Association (Adhoc Committee) convey its heartiest congratulation to Shahil for this wonderful achievement and wishes him success for the World Championship.
