AGARTALA, Aug 6: In a significant development the government has allowed construction of house for the Jhumias (shifting cultivators) under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Generation programme in the Sikaribari Zone under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council. Sinha Mohon Tripura, additional Zonal Development Officer, told the reporters that approval has been received for construction of 40 houses in the first phase in the Chawmanu sub-Zonal area during the financial year 2018-19. He said an amount of Rs 8,75,000 has been allocated for each house comprising two living room, one veranda and a toilet along with tiles, electrical fitting and provision for drinking water. Selection of beneficiaries for the project is in final stage, he said.
