Shikhar Adventure Club team climbs Thingsinkhang Peak

GORESWAR, Oct 22: Members of Shikhar Adventure  Club, Goreswar  on October 15 succeeded in climbing the Thingsinkhang Peak of west Sikkim, whose height is 20,013 feet. The team, led by Julima Deka, included Pur Deka, Munin Boro, Dibakar Das and Rujit Basumatary. They started their adventure from Goreswar on October 2 and climbed the peak on October 15 at 7.20 am after 14 days.

The team hoisted the Indian tiol flag, the flag of the club, Assamese Bihuwan and Bodo aroi on the peak. The team returned to Goreswar on October 21 and many social organizations and well-wishers offered them a warm welcome. Julima Deka and Pur Deka said that this was the first expedition of the club and they intended to climb Mount Everest some day. The expedition was sponsored by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department of Assam, local public representatives and public and was flagged off by Prasanta Singh ,OC ,Goreswar CRPF Camp.
