From A Reporter

SHILLONG, May 6: Orphaned Michael R. Syiemiong from Laitkor in Shillong has made it to the Mumbai Audition studio round of the reality show Dance India Dance Season 5 to be held from 15th to 30th May.

Addressing newsmen on Wednesday, All Meghalaya Dancers Association president  K. Thabah said “there are a lot of youths from the State who have participated in the competition Dance India Dance but no one has made it to this round,” adding, “ The people should support him so that other youths in the state will get encouragement.”

K. Thabah informed that M. Syiemiong got through the Guwahati audition on April 19 and was selected for the Kolkata audition held on April 27. In that audition, of the 2 lakh participants, only 8 got selected including him for the Mumbai audition studio round, while adding that if he sails through the Mumbai audition, he will get to take part in the Round of 16 of the competition which will be down to a voting system.

He also said, “We had earlier given a memorandum to the Chief Minister in 2012 to set up a State Dancing Institution so that the youth of the State who can’t afford to hire a persol trainer can practice their dancing skills for free but so far the State government has failed to address this issue.”

Meanwhile, M. Syiemiong said, “I just hope that God will shower his blessings on me so that I can do well in the show and bring laurels to the State of Meghalaya and its people,” while also informing that animation, popping, tutting are some of his style of dancing but what impressed the judges was his own unique dancing style – an own creation.
