SHILLONG, Oct 17: Brazilian giants Clube Atlético Paraense got the better of Shillong Lajong FC Academy boys and won the quarterfils match today by 2-0 at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi.
Atlético got very lucky in the beginning of the match as they were awarded a pelty. They successfully converted it from the spot and took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute of the game.
Lajong Junior Reds began to find their foot in the game and started to push forward in search of the equalizer. It was in the 17th minute that Lajong got its first real chance on goal. Kagaley shot from 30 yards but the shot went just over the crossbar. Clube Atlético Paraense went into the break with a 1-0 lead over Lajong.
In the opening quarter 45th minute of the second half, Loya missed a big chance to level the scoreline from 8 yards after a great play by him.
The Lajong Junior Reds were full of energy and power in the 49th minute and were combining exceptiolly well. By the 52nd minute, they were totally domiting the game and tried all their hearts out to get the ball into the net. They had a total of 4 shots in just one minute and made their opponents very nervous.
In the 53rd minute, a stunning shot by Donboklang Lyngdoh was parried away by Atletico Goalkeeper. Another chance missed. But the boys kept on going forward with the intent to find the equalizer. But in the 60th minute, the game changed and Atletico got very lucky once again as Lajong player mistakenly put the ball into his own net while he was trying to clear it away.
Lajong Juniors Reds however kept their calm and continued to play their game with a good team spirit.
In the 63rd minute they were awarded a free kick from the edge of the pelty area but unlucky as it was cleared by the Atletico goalkeeper.
That was the last action in the game which was clearly domited by the Shillong Lajong Academy boys. But they were very unlucky as they were not able to convert their chances into goals.
