Shillong Lajong FC beat Malki Sports Club

SHILLONG, Nov 6: Shillong Lajong FC defeated Malki Sports Club 3-1 in a Shillong Premier League encounter at the JN Stadium Shillong on Friday.

The Reds were brimming with immense confidence, started the match brightly and were the first to find the back of the net.

Young striker Lalrammua scored a hat trick today and has taken his goal tally to 11 goals which made him the highest goal scorer in the Shillong Premier League so far.

It was in the 18th minute of the match that Lalrammua headed a Bipin Singh cross and gave Lajong a 1-0 lead in the first half.

The young Reds domited possession and had a good control of the game and doubled the lead via pelty. Lalrammua converted the pelty in the 50th minute.

Malki Sports Club who also displayed good game of football in the second half maged to pull one back when Banshanlang netted a brilliant shot which sailed past the Lajong keeper in the 51st minute.

Lajong who have been ruling the top spot of the Shillong Premier League Points Table since the start of the League, made sure to take home another three golden points and pressed forward in search of another goal.

The Lajong Forward line created immense pressure on the Malki Defenders, and filly got the breakthrough in the 77th minute of the match. It was Lalrammua again to score Lajong’s third and completed his hat trick to put the game to bed with a scoreline of 3-1.

With this win, Lajong have 30 points from 14 matches. Lajong have scored a total of 28 goals in this edition of the SPL. The Youngsters of Lajong were also the first team to advance to the Semi-Fils of the SPL after being a domint force throughout this season.
