Shillong Lajong lift Premier League title

SHILLONG, Nov 9: Shillong Lajong FC emerged champion in the Gionee Shillong Premier League defeating Rangdajied United FC by 3-2 in a thrilling grand file held at the JN Stadium Shillong on Wednesday evening.

The Reds are now Meghalaya’s best team for three consecutive years, after winning the championship in the 2014, 2015 and now the 2016 edition.

Shillong Lajong, FC who domited the top spot throughout the league stage fought very hard to defend the title in the grand file against Rangdajied United and scored three goals in today’s game with a brace from Lalrammua and one goal by super sub Alen Deory.

James Moga and Debin Roy Shangprung scored for the losing outfit in the second half.

 Lajong were leading by a solitary goal in the lemon break.

Although it took time for the Reds to settle in the match, they looked very dangerous and were threatening their opponent’s half continuously. Rangadjied also tried hard to stay in the game, which witnessed good crowds, and whenever got the opportunities they had gone for counter attack but failed to return the third goal. Allen Deuri, who came as a substitute, played good soccer in the match apart from scoring the second goal of his side.
