Shillong Lajong to host East Bengal in I-League

SHILLONG, Mar 2: Shillong Lajong get ready to host East Bengal FC at the JN Stadium in Shillong in the Hero I-League clash on Saturday at 4:30PM.

Shillong Lajong is coming into this fixture after a 4-1 victory over Cheni City FC in Cheni on February 19. After this win, Lajong remained in top four with 16 points.

Meanwhile, Trevor Morgan’s side who are at the top of the I-League standings with 24 points enjoyed a thumping 3-1 win over Bengaluru FC. Wedson Anselme scored one while Robin Singh headed a brace in the match against Bengaluru.

Saturday’s match will be the second leg tie between the Shillong and Kolkatan outfit. The last time these two teams met was on 15th February in Siliguri and the match outcome was one all.

Thangboi Singto’s army holds an impressive record against East Bengal at Fortress Lajong, the JN Stadium. In fact, the highest margin victory for Lajong at home was against East Bengal on the 30th May 2015. The score line was 5-1 and the goal scorers in that epic contest were Cornell Glen (3), Zodinglia (1) and Seiminlen Doungel (1).

Furthermore, out of the 6 occasions that Lajong have hosted East Bengal in the I-League the Reds have won 4 times, which is the Club's best win percentage (67%) at home against any long term I-League club.
