Shillong Press Club win soccer title

GUWAHATI: Shillong Press Club lifted the HN Barua Memorial Inter Media title by defeating Chhaygaon Press Club 2-0 in a well contested final held at the Nehru stadium here today. Winners scored both the goals in the first half of the match.

The soccer competition was the part of the Topcem North East Media Sports Festival which came to an end today. The closing function was attended by several dignitaries which included Dharmakanta Mili (Director of Sports and Youth Welfare), Subhash Basumatari (Director, SAI), Rajiv Prakash Barua (OSD, DIPR), Anil Kapoor (top official, Topcem), International footballer Debashish Roy, along with sports organizer Taher Ahmed and two veteran journalists Balendra Mohan Chakraborty and Pabitra Gogoi respectively.

Meanwhile Assam Sports Journalists Association today felicitated senior journalists Jugal Lochan Das during the award giving function. Das, who is the vice president of the association, recently received Sahitya Academy Award for his relentless contribution in the field of literature.
