Shillong protests MLA's murder

SHILLONG, Feb 20:  The people of Shillong on Tuesday evening came out to protest against the killing of NCP candidate Jothone N Sangma, and three others in Williamgar's East Garo Hills district on February 18. The 'Candlelight Vigil' at Police Bazar organized by the A'chik (Garo) Youths of Shillong. Hundreds of people particularly from all walks of life participated in the Candlelight Vigil. Posters like, "Acts of terror are acts of cowards", "society will not tolerate such acts where people are put in fear", "Meghalaya wants peace and shall see peace" and "is life and death at the mercy of the polluticians?", were put up at the venue.

Meanwhile, former President of GSU, Saljrong Momin while condemning the act demanded the State Government to make an earnest effort to bbed the culprits involved in the act and to give them severe punishment as per the law at the earliest.

"We are in the verge of madness because of such inhuman incidents. I hope that going forward people choose their representatives wisely who can bring about changes and betterment in all aspect," Momin said.

Meanwhile, the State unit of the NCP will be organising a Candlelight Vigil at Khyndailad (Police Bazar).

The NCP has invited all stakeholders to assemble at the Vigil to condemn the heinous act in which four precious life were lost.
