Shillong Run on June 17

SHILLONG, June 9: The KJP Synod Sepngi in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, Shillong will organize “Shillong Run 10K – 2017” on June 17, at 6:30 am at Parking Lot, Polo.

The theme of this Run is “Run With Different Abilities”. The Shillong Run  has been organise every year since 2011 in order to create awareness about mainstreaming Persons with Disabilities in the society.

Addressing reporters on Friday, Rev KD Siting who is in charge of the Social and Economic Life Department of the KJP Synod Sepgni said that they had been organising the Shillong Run annually for the last six years since 2011.

“This helped spread awareness about the disabilities and also highlight the learning spirit of the Children. A total of more than thousand people, men, women and children are expected to participate in the run,” he said.

The “Shillong Run 10K-2017” will have three categories: Junior category below 14 years, Senior category 14 years above and the other category for the persons with disabilities. The registration Fee for the Students is Rs. 100/-; for others is Rs.200/- and free registration for persons with disabilities on producing of disability certificate.
