FROM A CORRESPONDENT

Agartala, Jan 4: The Special Investigation Team, which is investigating into 78 cases related to chit fund in Tripura, has already filed chargesheets in 20 cases while investigations of other cases are in advanced stage.

Inspector General of Police (law & order) K V Srijees who is also heading the SIT constituted as per a court order in 2015 said that during investigation, the SIT has arrested 112 persons involved in Chit Fund cases while lots of properties were attached. However, he could not furnish information about the total value of the properties attached as some central or agencies of other state also attached some properties.

While asked about the delay in investigation of the cases, he said economic offences and investigation of such cases are time taking.

In some cases the investigators had to visits other states too.  When his attention was drawn to Rose Vally, the most controversial ponzi farm that collected crores of rupees from Tripura, he said there are three cases with them against Rose Vally while five other cases are being investigated by CBI against them.

Meanwhile, the Trimool Congress came down heavily against the state government and the CBI for downplaying the role of Rose Vally in Tripura. TMC leader in the state assembly, Sudip Roy Barman described Tripura as ‘epicenter’ of Rose Vally as its founder Gautam Kundu started his business here and later spread it in other states.

He alleged that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and his other cabinet colleagues had virtually acted as brand ambassador of Rose Vally and promoted it in the state. He showed some records too to prove his point.

He sharply criticized CBI for not taking up any investigation into the allegations against Manik Sarkar , while adopted a method of brow beating by arresting TMC leaders and parliamentarians in West Bengal.  “It is nothing but political vendetta’, he said while accused the CPI (M) of maintaining a tacit relation with the BJP. He said the all the TMC MLA’s will go to Delhi to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister rendra Modi demanding investigation against Rose Vally in Tripura and the role of the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
