GUWAHATI, Feb 12: Assam star boxer Olympian Shiva Thapa is eying for a gold in the 12th South Asian Games. The event will kick off in Shillong tomorrow.

It will be maiden appearance for Shiva in the South Asian Games where he will take part in the 56 kg category. Talking to the local media Shiva said, he is taking part in the championship as a part of his preparation for the Olympic qualification which will be held in Qian’an in Chi from March 23.

The South Asian Games may not offer too much tough competition to the Indian boxer but Shiva felt it will give him a good opportunity to prepare himself before the Olympic Qualification round.“ I have decided to participate in the South Asian Games as it will give much needed match practice. I will try my best to win a gold from the competition.”

Regarding his preparation to earn a berth in Olympics, the boxer said that it is on right track and he has been working hard to reach the goal.
